Jones joined the University of Alabama and played college football for the Crimson Tide from 2017-2020.
As a freshman in 2017, Jones was redshirted. As a junior in the 2020 season, he played in 13 games and recorded 4,500 passing yards, 41 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions. He was named to the First-team All-SEC (2020) and Consensus All-American (2020). He also won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, Davey O’Brien Award, and Manning Award.
