Campbell joined Texas A&M University and played college football for the Aggies from 1995-1998 as a tight end. As a junior, he posted 12 receptions for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns. As a senior, Campbell recorded 7 receptions for 68 yards, one touchdown, and 3 special teams tackles.
Campbell was drafted by the New York Giants in the third round with the 79th overall pick of the 1999 NFL Draft. He has played 4 seasons for the Giants from 1999-2002, 3 seasons for the Dallas Cowboys from 2003-2005, 3 seasons for the Detroit Lions from 2006-2008, and one season for the New Orleans Saints in 2009.
