Chad Steven Henne was born on July 2, 1985, in West Reading, Pennsylvania, United States. He graduated from Lawn Wilson High School where he played football as a quarterback.
Henne attended the University of Michigan. In 2004 in his freshman year, he became only the second freshman to start at quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines. In his senior year, Henne led the side to a 41-35 Capital One Bowl win over Florida. He threw for over 350 yards and was named the game’s MVP.
Chan Henne was the 2006 Second-team All-Big Ten and the First-team All-Big Ten in 2007.
Professional Career
Chad Henne was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the second round of the 2008 NFL draft, a 57 overall pick.
The quarterback played for the Dolphins from 2008-2011. He played most of his rookie season as a backup quarterback for the veteran Chad Pennington. In the next season, he started most games due to Pennington’s injury. In the next few seasons, for the Dolphins as well as Jacksonville Jaguars (2012-2017), he played as a starting quarterback. He lost his starting job for the Jaguars in 2014, to the rookie first-round draft Blake Bortles.
In 2018, Henne signed as a backup quarterback under Patrick Mahomes for the Kansas City Chiefs. He played for the Chiefs from 2018 to 2022. He was a part of the Chiefs side that won the Super Bowls LIV and LVII.
After the Chiefs defeated the Eagles in the Super Bowl LVII, Chad Henne announced his retirement from NFL, on February 12, 2023.
