Week 8 Fantasy FAAB Picks and Advice

Quarterbacks

Derek Carr: Carr isn’t lighting up the scoreboard in this Saints offense, but we’re seeing incredible volume from him — and the shoulder seems to be getting more and more stable. In a matchup against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8, he’s on the streaming radar.

FAAB recommendation: 3%

Bryce Young: Young’s quietly put up back-to-back top-20 fantasy finishes at the QB position in his previous two games, and he has a solid matchup in front of him this week against the Houston Texans.

FAAB recommendation: 3%

Kyler Murray: You’re certainly not going to pick up Kyler and play him in Week 8 as he is still recovering from his ACL injury. But he appears on track to return to the field this season. He’s worth picking up and stashing now to see how he progresses in practice over the next few weeks.

FAAB recommendation: 2%

The Best of the Rest: Mac Jones, Desmond Ridder, Gardner Minshew, Malik Willis, Will Levis. 1% FAAB bid recommendation.

Running Backs

Darrell Henderson: Sean McVay wasn’t worried about the fact that Henderson had just come “off the couch” in Week 7 as he loaded him up with 18 carries in his first game back as a Los Angeles Ram! If you’re in need of a fill-in starting option over the next few weeks while Kyren Williams is sidelined, Henderson’s the top add.

FAAB recommendation: 10%

Tyjae Spears: Spears is trending towards having some standalone value due to his opportunity increasing in this offense, but he also could be on the verge of being the Tennessee Titans’ RB1 if Derrick Henry gets traded here at the 2023 NFL Trade Deadline. He’s worth adding now and stashing.

FAAB recommendation: 8%

Emari Demercado: After being featured as a hot waiver wire add in Week 6 and failing to live up to expectations, Demercado bounced back in Week 7 and put up solid fantasy production.

While James Conner is sidelined, Demercado seems like the RB to roster in Arizona.

FAAB recommendation: 5%

Royce Freeman: The Rams clearly do not trust Zach Evans to handle any touches in this backfield, which will leave Freeman and Henderson as the main options. He’s unlikely to ever return RB2 value, but he’s worth adding in deeper leagues.

FAAB recommendation: 5%

The Best of the Rest: Ezekiel Elliott, Pierre Strong Jr., Elijah Mitchell, Craig Reynolds. All below 5% FAAB recommendation.

Wide Receivers

Josh Downs: Downs has been getting the job done in fantasy football here recently, and he’s carrying plenty of upside with Gardner Minshew as his QB. Downs may just be a top-30 WR the rest of the way.

FAAB recommendation: 15%

Tank Dell: Fantasy managers may have forgotten about Dell as he was on a bye week, but he’s been impressive this year. Additionally, C.J. Stroud should only continue to improve as the season moves along. Dell is a solid add this week.

FAAB recommendation: 10%

Jaxon Smith-Njigba: If JSN is still available in your league, he’s worth adding due to the long-term upside. Is he going to provide as much value week in and week out as some of the other WRs on this list? No. However, with the built-in upside, if DK Metcalf continues to miss time and the possibility that Seattle ramps up his snap count the further we get into the season, he’s worth adding right now.

FAAB recommendation: 8%

Kendrick Bourne: The New England Patriots’ offense isn’t exactly lighting up the scoreboard, but it’s hard to argue with 18 targets and 16 receptions from Bourne over the past two weeks. He’s worth picking up and playing as a Flex option as early as Week 8.

FAAB recommendation: 5%

Rashid Shaheed: Shaheed has now seen 14 targets over the past two weeks, and he was the lone bright spot on offense for the New Orleans Saints in Week 7. We should only continue to see his opportunities increase.

FAAB recommendation: 5%

The Best of the Rest: Jalin Hyatt, Jameson Williams, Jayden Reed, Josh Reynolds, and Odell Beckham Jr. All below 5% FAAB recommendation.

Tight Ends

Dalton Kincaid: With the news that Dawson Knox is set to miss some time with a wrist injury, fantasy managers are going to aggressively go after Kincaid on the waiver wire this week. He has the talent and ability to be a top-tier fantasy TE, but it’ll be important to temper your expectations and not overspend.

FAAB recommendation: 10%

Taysom Hill: If Hill is going to remain this involved in the Saints offense, he’s absolutely worth picking up and playing as early as Week 8. The knock on Hill from a fantasy standpoint for years has been his inconsistent usage over the course of an entire season. That may be changing in New Orleans in 2023.

FAAB recommendation: 5%
