The Houston Texans‘ passing offense has been one of the biggest surprises through the first half of the 2023 NFL season. After being essentially overlooked throughout the entirety of fantasy draft season, wide receiver Tank Dell has emerged as a viable fantasy asset.
How aggressively should you target Dell on the waiver wire of your fantasy football league in Week 8? Let’s find out!

Should Tank Dell Be a Fantasy Waiver Wire Add in Week 8?
There have been a handful of impactful rookie wide receivers in fantasy football through the first seven games of the NFL season. Puka Nacua, Jordan Addison, Zay Flowers, and Josh Downs have all posted multiple top-20 finishes at the WR position this season.
Meanwhile, there is one more rookie WR who has multiple top-20 finishes this season, and that would be the former Houston Cougar product.
MORE: Week 8 WR Waiver Wire Targets
Dell strung together a pair of 20+ fantasy-point performances through the first three games of the season before a disappointing Week 4 outing and sustaining an injury in the team’s Week 5 win against the Atlanta Falcons.
Dell has shown plenty of playmaking ability alongside Nico Collins in this Houston offense, which is evidenced by his 17.1 yards per reception through five games.
He’s a quality hybrid slot player who is capable of creating after the catch but can also threaten defenses vertically with his speed. Sure, one could make a case that tight end Dalton Schultz has been far more involved in the passing game over the last two games, but some of that production came with Dell either failing to complete the game or missing the game altogether due to injury.
One reason why I would strongly recommend prioritizing Dell on your waiver wire this week would be the high level of play we’ve seen from C.J. Stroud in his rookie season. Stroud has thrown for over 240 yards in five of his first NFL games. The only game where he failed to top 200 yards through the air was against a stingy New Orleans Saints passing defense without Dell in the lineup.
Dell’s upside in this offense is legitimately inside the top 30 at the WR position and could provide big returns in the fantasy playoffs with two matchups against the Tennessee Titans’ secondary over the final four games of the season. If Dell is available on the waiver wire in your fantasy league, put in a waiver claim today.
