Should I Pick Up the New Orleans TE This Week?

It used to be the scariest thing in the world to start Taysom Hill in the TE position in your lineup — Hill was often the definition of feast or famine. You either managed a goose egg or three TDs scored in various ways.

Hill is not quite an every-week start yet in fantasy football, but his consistency has been improving. Over the last three games, the New Orleans Saints have finally figured out how to use Hill in the passing game, and his fantasy finishes have been steadily improving.

He was a top-10 TE in Weeks 6 and 7 and looks to be a top-10 TE again this week after all the games and the TEs are accounted for. This week, it wasn’t just via receiving either.

Hill did have 14 yards receiving, but he added on 63 yards on the ground and 44 yards through the air. Hill had the most rushing yards for the Saints — more than Alvin Kamara. The Indianapolis Colts were middle of the pack against TEs, and Hill managed to score over 22 fantasy points.

Should Taysom Hill Be a Fantasy Waiver Wire Add in Week 9?

Hill is only 35% rostered in Yahoo leagues and should be targeted on the waiver wire in Week 9. The Saints have two good matchups in a row for Hill; they play Chicago in Week 9 and Minnesota in Week 10 before they get a bye week.

We always discuss how the TE landscape is bleak out there, with only a couple of every-week starters. In this world, Hill must be rostered and started. There was slight hesitation starting Hill in Week 8, as the Saints other TE, Juwan Johnson, returned to the field, but Johnson ended the day with only two targets.
