The Detroit Lions at Baltimore Ravens Week 7 tilt was supposed to be a potential Super Bowl 58 preview. One that featured a red-hot team that’s unbeaten on the road against an AFC team with their own big-game aspirations.

Things got ugly quickly in Charm City, leading to a host of reactions to the Ravens’ epic start.

From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!

Ravens Deliver Relentless Early Response Toward Lions

The only miscue attached to the Ravens was a fumble by Lamar Jackson near the 2:20 mark of the second quarter that was recovered by the Lions’ Aidan Hutchinson.

But that ended four consecutive drives that ended with a touchdown.

It all began with the 2019 NFL Most Valuable Player Jackson using his legs for a 7-yard touchdown. But that touchdown came with this taming of Lions safety Kerby Joseph, orchestrated by left tackle Ronnie Stanley.

Then came Jackson again by air, this time hitting Nelson Agholor on a 12-yard touchdown strike. And that score came with a spin move by Jackson.

But Baltimore wasn’t through. On “National Tight Ends Day,” the Ravens made sure Mark Andrews got into the end zone.

Finally, Gus Edwards punched it in on a rare fullback touchdown.

The end result: 28 points to close out the first half and prompting the Ravens’ X (formerly known as Twitter) account to throw shade at the Lions.

Reactions Strong For the Ravens, While Others Criticize Detroit

Fans took to social media to deliver some strong reactions directed toward the Ravens’ fast start and for the Lions getting embarrassed on the road for the first time in 2023.

Bleacher Report Gridiron was one with a strong post for both Jackson and the Lions. Not only did they bring up Jackson’s stats (14-of-17 for 225 yards and three touchdowns), but ended their post with “He’s cooking the Lions” with the head-exploding emoji.

The NFL on DAZN account even poked its fun at Detroit. They went with a “Lion King” theme post where Simba is being chased by the hyenas.

FanDuel decided to describe the Lions’ first-half performance with a Steph Curry gif — one where the Golden State Warriors NBA champion has a shocked and confused look.

There was a Lions fan who didn’t hesitate to rip his team, describing himself as a 20-year fan of the team.

“This is the worst half of football I’ve watched in 20 years. Absolutely unprepared and lack luster effort. Do better,” that fan directed toward the Lions’ X account.

Then, the FOX cameras captured this fan trying to hide his face in watching the lopsided contest in Baltimore.

Baltimore ended up tying its season-best of 28 points against the Lions all in the first half. The Ravens last scored 28 against the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 1.
