MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The news of the morning here was the return of Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

But by lunchtime, there was plenty else to talk about. And most of it — based on player attendance at Dolphins practice Wednesday — was not good.

From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!

Miami Dolphins Practice Report: Kendall Lamm Among the Absences

Two starters on the Dolphins’ offensive line — Kendall Lamm and Connor Williams — and Xavien Howard, their best (available) cornerback, were among the players not spotted during the portion of practice open to reporters.

Williams and Howard missing was expected. Both are dealing with groin injuries, and Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel revealed prior to practice Wednesday that they would not be working.

Lamm, meanwhile, was more of a surprise. He played all 67 snaps in the Dolphins’ Week 6 win over the Carolina Panthers. We’ll know more about the nature of his injury (if indeed he has one or simply got a day off) when the team releases its Wednesday injury report.

UPDATE (4:57 p.m.): Lamm’s absence was personal and not injury related.

If for whatever reason he and Williams cannot go against the Eagles, it would be significant. Liam Eichenberg is the team’s backup center, while third-stringer Kion Smith would presumably get the nod at left tackle since Terron Armstead is out at least another two weeks with an ankle injury.

The contingencies are no better at cornerbacks if Howard cannot go. While Ramsey was back at practice Wednesday, McDaniel ruled him out from playing this week.

The Dolphins’ options at boundary corner opposite Kader Kohou against A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and the Eagles offensive are Eli Apple, Cam Smith, Parry Nickerson, Kelvin Joseph, Justin Bethel, and Nik Needham — who remains on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list but has practiced.

Other Dolphins players not spotted during Wednesday’s viewing portion: Fullback Alec Ingold and running back Chris Brooks.
