New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr limped off the field during the fourth quarter of Thursday night’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Here’s what is immediately known about the potential injury.
Latest Derek Carr Injury Update
Carr got banged up while delivering a deep incompletion to Rashid Shaheed. Carr was slow to his feet and then walked to the sidelines under the supervision of medical personnel.
When he came off the field, he sat down on the bench instead of going into the medical evaluation tent.

Carr had completed 28 of 45 passes for 251 yards, one touchdown, and one interception at the time of the incident. The game was tied at 24-24 at the time. Carr’s incompletion came on third down, ending the drive. The Jaguars scored a go-ahead touchdown on their next possession.
Carr returned to the game on the team’s next possession. But it’s certainly an injury worth monitoring.
Fantasy Implications of Potential Derek Carr Injury
Before getting hurt, Carr had attempted a whopping 45 passes, largely due to the Saints experiencing negative game script early in the game. Carr had brought his team all the way back before he pulled up lame on a third-down incompletion late in the fourth quarter.
If Carr has to miss any time, it will be Jameis Winston at quarterback, with the possibility we see an expansion of Taysom Hill’s role.

Winston may be a downgrade for the Saints offense due to his propensity to throw the ball to the other team, but he is a veteran with a history of supporting multiple fantasy-relevant receivers. He should be able to keep the fantasy values of Chris Olave and Michael Thomas afloat.
It is possible that Winston’s ability to push the ball downfield could result in Alvin Kamara seeing fewer dump-offs. His role with Carr is incredible right now. It does appear as though Carr is okay, though.
