The Cincinnati Bengals returned from their bye week with a vengeance, taking down the San Francisco 49ers 31-17 on Sunday and firmly re-establishing themselves as AFC contenders.
Where do the Bengals go from here, and how will they tackle the rest of their incredibly difficult schedule? We dive into all that and more on the most recent edition of the PFN Bengals Podcast.
PFN Bengals Podcast: What Comes Next for the Bengals?
Cincinnati is finally above .500 this season, but the club has its sights set higher after defeating the 49ers in Week 8.
The Bengals’ offense was firing on all cylinders on Sunday. Joe Burrow missed on just four of 32 attempts while tossing three touchdowns. Joe Mixon looked spry and posted his best game of the year. Ja’Marr Chase turned in a tidy 10-100-1, and Cincinnati’s offensive line held up against a Nick Bosa-led defensive front.

While the Bengals benefitted from a 49ers offense without WR Deebo Samuel or LT Trent Williams, they also managed to pick off Brock Purdy twice in the second half. Trey Hendrickson also recovered a fumble that put the game completely out of reach.
But what comes next? A stiff prime-time test against the Buffalo Bills is on tap. If Cincinnati can take down Josh Allen and Co. on Sunday night, they can elevate themselves back into the AFC’s top tier.
