The Texas Longhorns are making a jump from the Big 12 because it just means more for the fans in Austin. Texas will move to the SEC in 2024 and take part in a full SEC schedule as a first-year member next fall.

A favorable first-year SEC schedule awaits the Longhorns, all things considered. Save for a trip to Ann Arbor to face Michigan, the Longhorns avoid trips to the states of Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida, somehow in their first year in the SEC.
They’ll travel to Arkansas and Tennessee to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks and Vanderbilt Commodores, respectively, missing out on playing the Tennessee Volunteers in their first year.
Texas stays in-state to renew its rivalry with Texas A&M, and a trip to College Station will bring back all the feels for college football fans.
Notably, both the Georgia Bulldogs and Florida Gators come to DKR for their games with Texas. Georgia, the two-time defending National Champion, hasn’t played a game in Austin since 1958, while Florida last made the trek in 1939.

It’s an incredibly interesting first-year schedule for Texas, compared to fellow first-year SEC program Oklahoma who have to travel to LSU, Auburn, and Ole Miss, just to name a few tough matchups on their 2024 schedule.
