As the countdown to the return of the best video game ever continues, the hype grows. EA Sports finally gives the fans what they want with a new college football video game, and questions such as who the best player will be won’t be answered for a while.

Fortunately, we here at College Football Network won’t make you wait. We’re projecting who the top players in the game will be (or at least should be), and it’s a deep list.

Top Players for EA Sports College Football 25

10) Luther Burden III, Missouri

A breakthrough year for Luther Burden III showcased his full potential, and he returns to the Tigers offense with quarterback Brady Cook in 2024. He has a future in the NFL, but for now, he’ll terrorize the SEC in the slot.

Eli Drinkwitz and offensive coordinator Kirby Moore found a sweet spot with the star receiver last year, and players of the EA Sports College Football 25 video game should use Burden in a similar fashion.

9) Ollie Gordon II, RB, Oklahoma State

The reigning Doak Walker Award winner should have been on everyone’s radar after the 2023 season. Ollie Gordon II won the award as the best running back in college football, and he brings a physical style of running to the Cowboys offense.

While I don’t think he’ll be a 99 overall, he’ll be one of the top players in EA Sports College Football 25. If Ultimate Team returns with the new game, adding Gordon to your team ensures a physical runner will take over the ball-carrying duties.

8) Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State

Just because he’s in the Group of Five doesn’t mean he can’t be one of the best. Those who truly watch all college football know that Ashton Jeanty is a star. From running the ball to the passing game, he’s a factor in Boise State’s offense, and he’ll play an even bigger role this year with George Holani gone to the NFL.

His rating should reflect his game, which is one that’s full of explosive plays, long runs, and highlight reel hurdles. If the EA Sports College Football game doesn’t respect his game, we riot. Jeanty’s a star, and Boise State’s in good hands with him returning for the 2024 college football campaign.

7) Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona

For the casual player, Tetairoa McMillan will be a fan favorite. His catch radius will make him one of the top receivers in the upcoming video game, and it’s what makes him one of the top receivers in the country.

He brings a long frame to the Arizona offense and is gaining traction in the NFL Draft community. Standing 6’5″ and 209 pounds, he’ll be a go-to option for many playing EA Sports College Football 25 and could become a cheat code thanks to his pass-catching abilities.

6) Harold Perkins Jr., LB, LSU

In terms of traits, Harold Perkins might rank the highest in multiple categories. His athleticism is off the charts, and players of the game should move him around the defense to help their team.

We saw what he’s capable of doing on the edge two years ago, and that should be reflected in his rating. He might have been learning a new position in 2023, but he now has a full year of experience under his belt for 2024. He’ll be a playmaker in real life, and a potential superstar in the video game.

5) Caleb Downs, S, Ohio State

Caleb Downs can play, and I fully expect EA Sports College Football 25 creators to make him one of the top players in the game. Starting at Alabama and playing the way he did as a true freshman shows why his ceiling is so high. He’s a factor in all aspects of the defense, and he’ll be one of the best in the game.

Playing defense remains one of the bigger challenges to users, but controlling Downs could help expand their margin for error. His awareness might be his top trait in the game, and that will boost the Buckeyes defense or even a user’s Ultimate Team if he’s on the field.

4) Quinn Ewers, QB, Texas

Quarterbacks should be some of the highest-rated players in the game, and Quinn Ewers has a strong case to be QB1. He enters his third year in Steve Sarkisian’s system, and the Longhorns’ offense should be one of the best to control if you’re looking to beat your buddy in a game.

Ewers may not have the most elite traits, but he’s going to be a good quarterback in EA Sports College Football 25 — and in real life. Throw in the transfer portal talent that the Longhorns added in the offseason, and he should put up big numbers in the game.

3) Rueben Bain Jr., DE, Miami

Buckle up for the future of Miami Hurricanes football, specifically the defense. If you don’t know the name Rueben Bain Jr., I encourage you to turn on the film. Grab some popcorn, because he’ll put on a show quickly. The Hurricanes’ defensive end is just getting started at the college level, and he’s another player that could quickly become a cheat code in the game.

He came to Miami following an illustrious high school career, and now he’s establishing himself as a similar force at the college level. He’s an explosive player with a ton of power and will be fun to control when on defense.

2) Will Johnson, CB, Michigan

The Will Johnson discord rages on, and the bandwagon continues filling up by the day. Arguably the best cornerback in the country, he’s been a lockdown player for the National Championship-winning Michigan Wolverines defense.

This year, we’ll see how high he can raise his draft stock in a new system, but he’ll be one of the best players in EA Sports College Football 25 with his size, agility, and speed combined with top-tier ball skills and impressive physicality.

1) Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado

One of the original strategies in the old video games was finding how to get more talent on the kick return team. The game typically didn’t have the fastest players back returning kicks, so users had to edit their depth charts. With Travis Hunter on the team, users won’t have to do that.

Hunter brings something unique to EA Sports College Football 25 that we haven’t seen for a long time. He’ll play every part of the game. From cornerback to wide receiver to kick/punt returner, the Colorado standout — and former number-one high school recruit — will do it all.
